Us In Care Moderation Guidance

Moderation of website content means any upload (what you send to the website) by a user of the website is seen by a Web Editor.

Moderation of all text, images and videos will now take place after any upload. Information from you that you send to the website will be confidential. Confidential means not giving this info to anyone else without your permission.  But if what you tell us is so worrying that we think that you or others are at risk,  we have a duty to inform the people who could help you and others be safe. This might be your carer or social worker.

Us In Care welcomes your ideas and content (what you upload)

We want to make sure that:

  • your content is ok, and does not put you or others at risk
  • it is clear to you and us about how your content will be treated

When you upload, you are automatically agreeing to the following:

Your content:

  • is respectful of others - comments should not be malicious or offensive, and should not be a personal attack on a person's character
  • does not incite hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality or sexuality or other personal characteristic
  • does not reveal personal details, such as private addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or other online contact details
  • does not break the law - this includes libel, approving illegal activity, and breaking copyright
  • is reasonably brief and to the point, and does not amount to spamming of the site
  • is relevant - please do not post messages to a discussion forum that are unrelated to the subject under discussion
  • does not pretend to be from someone else, or falsely claim to represent an organisation
  • this applies to all content, which is writing text, images, videos

When a Web Editor decides, using the above, that text, image or video is inappropriate, the content will be taken off the website, and the child or young person who posted the content will be contacted:

  • it will be explained why the content has been taken down
  • advice given on how the content could be changed in order to re-publish it
  • agreement reached on how to use the website appropriately

Where agreement cannot be reached, the Social Worker and/or Carer will be asked for their advice.
