Staying overnight

When is it OK to stay overnight?

Carers or staff in your home will decide with you whether it’s OK for you to stay overnight with friends, in exactly the same way as parents/carers decide this for their own children. They should speak to your friend’s parents before you go, to help them decide.

Unless there is a good reason to say no (like a safety worry, something in your plans, or a court order) they should usually say yes. If your plans say you shouldn’t stay overnight, you should be told why, and asked what you think.

Friends' parents do not usually have to have police checks first. (A police check is a way to make sure that it is safe for you to be with an adult).
