Other things

Your culture

We want you to feel positive about your culture, family origins, religion and language.  We will, as far as possible, place you with people who are of the same background as you or who understand, respect and value your ethnic background, culture and religion.

Black and in care: We will help you to:

  • Learn about your race, culture and history, and develop a positive identity.
  • Meeting other black people and getting involved in local activities.
  • Tell you about who you are, and explain about your parents’ race and culture

Religion: We will help you to practice your religion by understanding its practices and help you to follow them.

Language: The language you were brought up to speak is important. If you have difficulty with English, we will make sure that someone can interpret what is said at important meetings for you and that important written documents are translated.
